It's not very often that we think that we are presently in the thick of battle, bullets whizzing overhead and shells exploding all around us. But this spiritual reality that John lays out in Revelation has helped me to make sense of a lot more of what has been happening in the recent months and I'm happy to say that ground has been gained in more than a few places.

I'm far too often guilty of praying small prayers. I pray for things like a good day, a smooth conversation with someone, thank God for the food. I don't think these are bad prayers in and of themselves, but when put next to Paul's prayers, sometimes they look like BB pellets next to nuclear bombs.
